Forces & motion
Relative motion, friction, balance and stability.
Mechanical aptitude practice
Practise the kind of everyday physical reasoning used in mechanical comprehension assessments: gears, pulleys, levers, hydraulics, friction, heat, motion and basic electrical principles. The questions and diagrams below are independently written for AceJobTest.
Bennett-style preparation, independently created
Pearson TalentLens describes the current Bennett Mechanical Comprehension Test (BMCT-II) as measuring mechanical reasoning and spatial perception, with 55 timed items in 25 minutes. Its item bank can cover content such as electricity, heat and hydraulics. This AceJobTest simulation is shorter and does not reproduce BMCT-II questions, drawings or answer material.
Relative motion, friction, balance and stability.
Levers, pulleys, ramps, gears, wheels and axles.
Hydraulics, pressure, buoyancy and thermal expansion.
Simple circuits, resistance and parallel paths.
Mechanical reasoning simulation
Expect gears, levers, pulleys, hydraulics, friction, thermal expansion, electricity and other everyday mechanical principles. Every diagram and question is original.
The timer starts only when you press Start.
How to improve
Mechanical reasoning questions often change the object while testing the same underlying rule. After the test, review the explanation and name the principle in your own words: moment, pressure, gear ratio, friction, current path or another rule. That makes the skill transferable to unfamiliar diagrams.
AceJobTest is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Pearson, TalentLens or the Bennett Mechanical Comprehension Test. Bennett Mechanical Comprehension Test and BMCT-II are referenced only to describe the type of assessment candidates may encounter. All AceJobTest questions and diagrams on this page are original practice material.
